DAN + SHAY DEBUT NEW SINGLE “TEQUILA” AHEAD OF THIRD PROJECT

Dan + Shay revealed their latest single today “Tequila” which takes a different focus on the drinking lifestyle and moves away from downing shots and partying. The song is the first single to feature from the duo’s upcoming third album.

The song delves into new territory for the duo, heartbreak, with only “How Not To” as the other song to touch on the subject. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney created the mid-tempo pop-country track about the cut throat drink. The duo wrote the song with Jordan Reynolds and Nicolle Gaylon about the scent of tequila bringing back memories of being with a gone girl.

“When I taste tequila/ Baby I still see ya/ Cuttin’ up the floor in a sorority T-shirt/ The same one you wore when we were sky-high in Colorado/ Lips pressed against the bottle swearing on a Bible/ Baby, I’ll never leave ya’/ I remember how bad I need ya when I taste tequila.”
